Danar Hadi Antiques Batik Museum and Factory
We were not allowed to take photos in the museum.  There were beautiful batik fabrics from different time periods and cultures in Indonesian history.

The factory was a real "sweat shop."  No air conditioning or fans.  The circulating air would put out the flames that keep the wax melted.  The little black pots seen in some photos hold the melted wax.  The wax is applied and then the fabric is dyed.  Where the wax is, no dye will take.  This is done for every color on the fabric.  A very slow, skilled, labor intensive job.  It can take months or longer to make some of the patterns.
