Sister Samantha Hickman and I.  We happened to buy the same Batik top, so we had our photo taken together.  Samantha was adopted from a Viet Namese orphanage when she was 5 years old.  Her adoptive parents had raised a family and decided to adopt a Viet  Namese orphan, so they adopted Samantha.  They were in their 50's at this time.  She had a girl friend in the orphanage and asked the Hickmans if they would adopt her also.  This girl had a brother in the boys orphanage and so the Hickmans adopted both of them in addition to Samantha.  What great people!  They live in Spokane, Washington.

Parts of Jakarta are a modern metropolis, but not everyone enjoys the good life.  It was 90 degrees and 100% humidity and this man was pulling his loaded cart up hill on a busy street with motorcycles, cars and buses whizzing by.  Notice he does not even have shoes.
